Job Description

The International Securities Exchange is currently recruiting a Senior Linux Engineer.�


Responsibilities to include:



  • Implement and maintain RedHat and Sun Solaris systems
  • Administration of JBoss in RedHat Linux Environment
  • Perform hardware, operating system, security and application updates/patches on these systems
  • Monitor Linux/UNIX systems for performance and availability
  • Work with team on defining best practices for supporting our environment
  • Work with various development groups to deploy application code into Staging and Production environments
  • Interface with business to identify practical solutions applicable to the business needs based on available technology
  • Assist in performing routine capacity planning tasks for storage assets, generate utilization and performance reports, and maintain documentation of storage environment
  • Respond to tickets through a ticketing system
  • Manage a data center migration project
  • Work with project managers and technical staff in defining and documenting technical project requirements
Required Experience

Experience Required/Technical Skills:



  • 3-6+ years experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux
  • Administrative experience with the following UNIX protocols: DNS, NTP, SSH, NFS, SMTP, LDAP
  • Experience with RPM and building custom packages
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues using utilities such as iostat, vmstat, truss, gdb, dtrace
  • Experience with Apache Web server and with managing SSL certificates
  • Experience with mysql
  • At least 4 years working with Perl and some exposure to object oriented development
  • Familiar with standard development utilities such as make, cvs, ldd, nm, etc.
  • Production installation and support of Apache and JBoss systems
  • Veritas Products (Netbackup, VCS)
  • Able to automate routine tasks using Shell or Perl scripting
  • Understanding of security best practices such as minimal install sets, server hardening and system patching
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solaris and RedHat certifications a plus
  • BA/BS degree preferred
